Pitney Meyer Featured on April Covers of Bluegrass Unlimited and Country Music People Magazines, Band Hits the Road for Select Dates

Curb Records proudly announces the release of Cherokee Pioneer, the eagerly awaited debut album from Pitney Meyer. This groundbreaking project is an 11-song collection that captures the heart and soul of the musical brotherhood formed between Mo Pitney and John Meyer. Cherokee Pioneer can be found on popular streaming services, and is also available on CD and vinyl at www.PitneyMeyer.com.

Pitney Meyer introduced themselves to the world with the release of “That Sounds Lonesome,” a pre-album track that offered a preview of the duo’s distinctive sound. Music from their album Cherokee Pioneer quickly followed, beginning with a series of singles including “Old Friend” and “Trail of Tears.” In January, their song “Bear Creek Clay” was featured in Billboard’s 5 Must-Hear New Country Songs alongside country stars Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, and Lauren Alaina. The duo’s follow-up, “Blue Water,” showcased their vocal harmony strength in an impassioned ballad. These early releases from bluegrass music’s newest collaboration have been embraced by fans, building excitement for their full-length album. Each track underscores Pitney Meyer’s commitment to authentic storytelling and their deep-rooted connection to traditional bluegrass influences.

The duo recorded Cherokee Pioneer entirely on analog tape at the Storytellers Hideaway Farm in Bon Aqua, Tennessee, inside a historic 1837 log cabin once owned by Johnny Cash. “I knew we wanted to record a live album so I immediately became interested in using tape for that reason,” says Mo. “Our heroes, this is the way they recorded. They sat in a circle gathered around in a room and made music.”

The album, steeped in the rich sounds of banjo, mandolin, and heartfelt lyrics, honors the Appalachian roots of bluegrass, a genre that took shape on front porches where stories were sung and traditions passed down. Pitney Meyer channels this timeless spirit, crafting 10 of the 11 tracks where the interplay of acoustic instruments and soaring harmonies brings their ancestors’ folklore to life. Blending mournful eulogies with jubilant spirituals, the duo’s full-length debut creates a vivid tapestry of imagery and intricate arrangements that showcase the depth and camaraderie of a true bluegrass brotherhood. “This project is about connecting with people, honoring the past, and sharing what’s in our hearts,” says John.

The focus track from Pitney Meyer’s album is a powerful grassed up version of the John Anderson country classic, “Seminole Wind.” This recording shines with the brilliant addition of Jenee Fleenor on fiddle, whose virtuosity brings a perfect balance of tradition and innovation to the timeless tune. Fleenor, a seven-time winner of Musician of the Year by the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music, is also a current nominee for the prestigious honor.

Pitney Meyer, eager to perform their new music in front of audiences, kicked off the Cherokee Pioneer Tour earlier this month at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum, with dates continuing across the US, Canada and Finland.

Cherokee Pioneer is now available for streaming on all major platforms and for purchase at PitneyMeyer.com. To stay updated on their tour schedule and behind-the-scenes content, follow Pitney Meyer on Facebook and Instagram @pitneymeyer.
